Year of the Bento: Introduction to Bento
What is a bento, you ask? A bento is a Japanese lunchbox-cum-artistic medium. A bento is a way to keep lunch interesting, exciting, and healthy—and save money, all at the same time. Finally, it’s also a way to prove that frugality can absolutely be fabulous.
For 2010, this is what it’s all about. It’s about getting back to basics, it’s about being practical, and most of all, it’s about eating something delicious and good for us—and something that’s easy to do.

Statement of Intent
It might not look like I’ve been terribly busy if this blog is anything to go by, but let me assure you, I have been. As far as TSiR is concerned, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the kinds of things I’d like to post here, and the kinds of unique food-related things I can offer to the world-at-large. Because really, what is the point of my saying a lot of things other people have already said, and/or are saying better than I could? Why would anyone want to read this if that’s all I did?
The long, dark, tea-time of the soul is shortly coming to an end here at TSiR. Via disc brakes. Watch this space for the coming reinvigoration—I do think you’ll want to read it.
New “Pushing Daisies” Blog and Welcome to Ed-Heads!
I’m chock full of news today, so let’s get right to it:
- I’m now writing for a new Pushing Daisies-specific blog over here at
Life. Death. And Life Again. Why does this matter to you? There’ll be recipes in it that tie into the show.
Hope you’ll check it out!
- Hello to everyone visiting after hearing my rather unfortunately crackly call on The Ed Schultz Show today! Feel free to ask me any questions that you don’t see answered here on my site, and thank you for visiting! I hope if you’re in the Chicagoland area and like to eat, you’ll contact me!
