I Wanna (Cinnamon) Roll You Up Into My Life
What’s not to love about a cinnamon roll? Unless, of course, you hate deliciousness. You’re not a hater of deliciousness, are you? Good.
Sometimes, though, I have to confess that I feel like the frosting is too much. They’re sweet enough already…they don’t really need all that extra sugar, do they? Sometimes they do, but not the way I make them.
It’s a basic sweet bread dough recipe, but the difference is in the filling. Most recipes want you to brush the roll with melted butter and then layer on a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. I think it’s better to get more bang for your flavor buck and use brown sugar instead. I also threw in about a cup of golden raisins, mainly because they’re lovely. I also mixed a little vanilla extract in with the butter before brushing.
Result? Slightly browner than usual, which is probably due in part to the vanilla extract mixed in with the butter; I used this to brush the tops of the rolls before baking, too. They are, however, delightfully soft and tasty, and any raisins which escaped got caramelized in the pan. Delicious. :9

I’ve got a nice veggie stew in the slow cooker now, too. :9
